About PDF Plain

Why PDF Plain exists

PDF Plain is an independent collection of free PDF utilities built for ordinary browser use. The goal is simple: make common PDF tasks fast, understandable, and private without asking users to create an account.

The first version focuses on everyday jobs such as merging PDFs, splitting pages, converting images, rotating pages, deleting pages, extracting pages, and reordering a document.

How privacy works

The tools are designed to process files locally in your browser. When you choose a PDF or image, JavaScript libraries running on your own device read and transform that file. The selected files are not uploaded to a PDF Plain server for processing.

PDF Plain uses browser-side libraries such as PDF.js, pdf-lib, JSZip, and the Canvas API. This keeps the site static and avoids server-side file handling for the V1 tools.

Honest limits

Browser-only PDF tools depend on your device, browser memory, and the structure of the PDF. Very large files, encrypted PDFs, unusual forms, or heavily optimized documents may not work in every tool.

The original file on your device is not changed. Each tool creates a new output file for you to download and check before using it.
