Sign PDF

Sign a PDF in Your Browser

Draw or upload your signature, drop it on any page, and download the signed PDF. This is a visual signature, like signing a printout — not a cryptographic / PKI digital signature. Your file never leaves your device.

Your file never leaves your device.

No upload proof

This tool runs locally in your browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. PDF Plain does not receive your PDF or your signature image.

You can verify this yourself: open your browser's Network tab while using the tool and watch — no PDF or image file is sent.

What this is and isn't: PDF Plain creates a visible signature image on your PDF, equivalent to signing a printed page. It does not create a cryptographic (PKI / X.509) digital signature, and it cannot guarantee the document was unchanged after signing. For PKI signatures, use a service like Adobe Acrobat Sign.

How it works

1. Add a PDF

Drop the file in or pick it from your device.

2. Draw or upload a signature

Use the canvas with mouse, trackpad, stylus, or finger. Or upload a PNG / JPG of your signature.

3. Drop and download

Drag the signature where you want it, resize, and download a signed PDF.

When a visual PDF signature is appropriate

A visual signature is useful when a person or organization accepts the equivalent of a signed printout: routine forms, approvals, acknowledgements, simple agreements, or documents that will be reviewed manually. You can place multiple signatures across multiple pages, resize each one, and keep the whole workflow on your device.

Use a dedicated electronic-signature platform instead when the process requires verified signer identity, a tamper-evident certificate, timestamps, an audit trail, or a cryptographic signature that a PDF reader can validate. PDF Plain deliberately does not claim to provide those controls.

Before sending the signed PDF

  • Check every signature at normal zoom and confirm it is on the intended page.
  • Keep an unsigned original in case you need to start again.
  • Ask the recipient whether a visual signature meets their requirements.
  • Add a password afterward if the signed document needs protection in transit.

FAQ

Is this a legally binding signature?

It depends on your jurisdiction and the document. In many places a visible signature on a document is treated like a hand-signed scan. For contracts that require strict identity proof or audit trails, use a dedicated e-signature service.

Is this a digital signature like Adobe Sign or DocuSign?

No. Those services attach a cryptographic certificate that can detect later edits and verify the signer's identity. PDF Plain only adds a visible signature image. We do this because everything runs in your browser without an account.

Can I add multiple signatures or sign multiple pages?

Yes. Add a signature, place it on the current page, then add another or switch pages and place signatures where needed. Each placed signature can be moved and resized independently.

Is my signature image saved anywhere?

No. The drawing and the signed PDF are created in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. You can draw with your finger on touch devices and download the signed PDF directly.

Can I use a photographed signature?

Yes. Upload a PNG or JPG. The tool removes a near-white background so the signature can sit naturally over the page, but a clean, evenly lit image produces the best result.
